Signs from the Afterlife - the Violinist

The Roman Oasis

Excellent Fingering

Signs from the Afterlife - The Violinist

27th May 2026

Yesterday (Tuesday 26th May) we went to an event at the Roman Oasis in Manilva, Spain. The Roman Oasis is a quirky establishment which has an excellent, if somewhat difficult, mini golf course; two glorious parrots, a large Maine Coon cat; and also, on occasions, hosts special themed barbecue evenings with dancing and special guests.

Our friends, Mark and Kathleen, and their two sons were staying with us at the time and accompanied us to the event. After eating way too much delicious barbecued meat, the special guest came on. He was a rather handsome guy with long hair and an electric violin, no doubt hand-picked by Paul, the proprietor, to appeal to ladies of a certain age. Being in that category myself, I was not disappointed. As I pointed out to the violinist, who I later found out was called Quike Navarro (after stalking him online), his fingering was top-notch.

Quike played a range of songs to appeal to every taste, from classical to Michael Jackson. However, as the evening was drawing to an end, I felt that one of my favourite bands had been missing. Abba! So I said to Tomson, in front of the whole table, "Tomson, can you get him to play some Abba?"

Andy and me had both felt Tomson's electromagnetic touch on our hair earlier, but I did wonder if he could actually pull this off. I mean, surely he would have to know I was going to make this request in advance and "fiddle" with the guy's playlist?

Anyway, Quike played a couple more songs, no Abba, and I asked Tomson again. "Tomson, Abba, please?!!"

Like the showman he is, Tomson did not disappoint. The violin started to play a very distinctive riff - Benny Anderson's piano introduction at the start of "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme". Of course I shouted with glee and ran up to dance in an energetic way in front of the bemused audience.

Gimme, Gimme, Gimme my Boo before Midnight is always going to get my attention any day of the week!

So we enjoyed another night where Tomson reminded us he’s still very much around.
